Ardham is a non-profit organization that works towards engendering meanings. We aim to educate Indians especially the trans and gender non-conforming (TGNC) Indians and work towards a gender-inclusive India.
The word ‘Ardham’ denotes ‘meaning’ in Indian languages such as Tamil and Telugu. In Sanskrit it denotes ‘half’. Ardham as an organization draws its inspiration from these denotations in the several Indian languages. Hence, we work towards engendering meanings. Meanings that are fuller and more meaningful. Fuller meanings that can face the world fearlessly. We engender meanings through the lived gendered experiences of people. We engender meanings of lived gendered experiences especially of people from India who identify as Trans and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC), Gender Non-Binary, Intersex, Agender, Asexual and such other under-represented communities in India.
